Today was an absolutely beautiful day here in Richmond, and it made me long for better weather and an opportunity to go camping. One of the things that I miss the most living here in the Midwest is the easy opportunity to head into the hills and go camping and hiking. While there are some places like Hueston Woods that are reasonably nearby it’s still not the same as heading out on the Appalachian Trail for the weekend. My wife Becky and I hope to do some more camping this year, even if we don’t get to break out the backpacking gear. Of course such plans will be largely dependent on where I am working after I graduate. Thankfully her job’s hours are somewhat flexible so if I am working in a church we may be able to sneak away on a Friday and Saturday and be back for Sunday. Only time will tell, but until then the call of mother nature will only get louder.
